Popular Interior Design Styles

When it comes to popular interior design styles, there are so many to choose from!

From modern to coastal, Scandinavian, and more, it can become pretty overwhelming and, at times, confusing. But lucky for you, I’m a pro and can tell you absolutely everything you need to know. Continue below to learn all about five popular interior design styles and how you can achieve the look!

Modern Interior Style

What Is It?
The modern interior style is all about combining vibrant colors with aptly placed neutrals. Bold pieces of art in colorful hues and neutral painted walls are key to nailing the modern interior design style. From whites to greys, modernists tend to stick to clean color schemes in terms of both walls and furniture. Additionally, horizontal and vertical lines are often found in a modern home. Instead of a round table, you’ll usually find a square or rectangle!

Another common feature found in modern homes is industrial materials. From steel to concrete and even glass, you can expect to see concrete floors, large glass windows, and steel ceilings. Less is most definitely more in a modern home, so knick-knacks and trinkets have no place here!

How to Achieve the Look:
Some of my favorite pieces to achieve the modern interior style include our Wonderland art piece, the Axium Coffee Table, and the Alyn Side Table.

Coastal Interior Style

What Is It?
The coastal interior style is void of all things nautical (thank goodness!). Instead, you can expect to find beachy colors like blues, whites, beige, and other neutrals. This type of color palette is comforting! In addition to this, coastal homes are typically full of natural materials like rattan, seagrass, and wicker.

Coastal homes tend to bring the outdoors indoors, meaning you’ll find things like plants all throughout! From large glass windows to sheer curtains, the transition from the inside to the outside should look as seamless as possible.

How to Achieve the Look:
Some of my favorite pieces to achieve the coastal interior style include our Charlie Basket Set, Alec Chair, and Asquith Pillow.

Scandinavian Interior Style

What Is It?
The Scandinavian interior style is functional, sleek, and very clean. From tons of lighting to open windows, greenery, and flowers, less is more. Instead of bright colors, there isn’t much variation, so you can expect to see shades of black, white, grey, and brown. And as for the furniture, the Scandinavian style typically sticks to wood and glass materials, with sleek lines and often a rounded edge.

Minimalism is key in a Scandinavian-styled home, so for things like storage, it will be both functional and beautiful.

Farmhouse Interior Style

What Is It?
The farmhouse interior style has a neutral color palette including whites, browns, blacks, deep blues, and even sage greens. This type of home is (obviously) heavily influenced by the look and feel of an actual farmhouse, so it should come as no surprise that these homes often feature an open concept to make the space feel bigger and more like a real farmhouse.

Kitchens play a big role in farmhouse-styled homes and focus on things like textured backsplashes, white marble countertops, and large islands. And when it comes to textures and materials, they’re often mixed and include things like leather, wood, fur, gold, silver, and stone.

How to Achieve the Look:

Newport Nordic Interior Style

What Is It?
The Newport Nordic interior style is almost like a blend of coastal and Scandinavian styles, resulting in a home with coastal elements, a modern feel, and Nordic features. This style features wood, neutral hues, and materials like leather and plaster.

There is no clutter in Newport Nordic-styled homes, and instead, they utilize lots of storage options! From open spaces to minimalism, this interior style has gained popularity over the last few years.

How to Achieve the Look:
