Outdoor Styling Tips

Now that the weather is finally starting to warm up in California, now is the perfect time to look at some outdoor styling tips.

Whether you have a small patio or a large backyard with ample space, there are plenty of fun and easy ways to spruce things up. There is nothing more serene than stepping outside into bliss, surrounded by stunning tablescapes and beautiful details. Most people think of the outdoor area as a second thought during a home renovation. But you know what? It’s just as important as the interior of your home! While you may not spend as much time outdoors, it can act as an extension of your home for additional entertainment areas.

If you want to look at my outdoor styling tips to turn your space into an oasis, continue reading below to find everything you need to know!

Start With Your Seating

An essential part of any outdoor situation is the seating aspect. It’s likely where you will spend most of your time, so why not make it something you love? From comfort to durability, style, and price, there are a few factors you need to take into consideration when choosing your seating arrangements. Do you want a cluster of chairs? A couch? A daybed? The options are truly limitless, but I’m a fan of our Virkelyst Outdoor Sofa and Finn Outdoor Chair.

Add an Area Rug

Whether you have kiddos running around or like to have the girls over for dinner parties, your outdoor area rug will probably get tons of traffic. That’s why it’s so important to go for a rug that will last you for years and years to come. I’ve used our Elowen Rug and Alissa Rug to style homes, and my clients fall in love every time. They’re neutral, versatile, and excellent for any style.

Choose a Coffee Table or Ottoman

Next up on my list of outdoor styling tips is choosing a coffee table or ottoman! You want to make sure this is rather sturdy and can put up with all sorts of weather conditions. I love our Virkelyst Outdoor Coffee Table because it’s such a timeless and classic design. If you want to entertain guests, I suggest setting up the space with serveware. Our Olivia PitcherRenna Tray Set, and Dylan Hand Towel Navy will get the job done!

Add Some Plants and Greenery

One of my favorite aspects of an outdoor living space is deciding on the plants and greenery! If you happen to have a green thumb, I’m sure you’ll have loads of fun picking and choosing your favorites. Once you know what you want to put on display, I suggest getting your hands on our Easton Pot and Evelyn Pot With Rope.

Decide on Lighting

Lighting is another crucial part when it comes to outdoor styling. Even though the natural light you receive during the day is likely stunning, you still need something for the night or even dusk! I like our Arcadia Lantern and Jacquie Pendant for the outdoors. They would look great situated above a coffee table or even a dining table.

Choose a Table and Design a Tablescape

Last but not least, you need to choose a table and design your tablescape! If you plan to host friends and family for outdoor luncheons or dinner parties, you need to have a go-to setup. It will make things go by so much smoother! If you have no idea where to begin, I love our Selandia Table as a starting point. And from there, you can decorate the tablescape with the following products: Hazel Bowl with HandlesMadelyn Wine Glass SetCharleston Ice BucketWillow PlatesWilliam Napkin Set Oyster, and Wisteria Flatware Set.
