Spring Cleaning Tips and Tricks

If you’re on the lookout for spring cleaning tips and tricks, you’ve come to the right place.

I get it—deep cleaning isn’t always the most fun of tasks, but it’s absolutely necessary. Dust, dirt, and grime can build up over time, and even if you have professional cleaners that often come to your house, there are certain things that they likely don’t always do. You can definitely request them to deep clean specific spaces, but some things are better suited for you to tackle.

Whether you plan on getting all your spring cleaning done in one day or throughout a long weekend, the following tips and tricks are definitely doable.

Go Through Your House Room By Room (and top to bottom)

Instead of frantically going back and forth between rooms, I suggest taking on one room at a time. It’s easier to keep track of what you’ve done and what you still have to accomplish. The order of the rooms is entirely up to you, but I do suggest starting from the top and working your way down in each room. For example, before vacuuming the carpet, dust the fans. Before cleaning the floors, wipe the countertops.

Pro Tip: Look at where the clutter is and organize it with things like baskets or bins. I love our Mason Basket Set for this exact reason! Fill with blankets, kids’ toys, or pet toys for stylish concealment.

Deep Clean Appliances

Spring cleaning means it’s time to get into the nitty-gritty… so remember to deep clean your appliances. If you’re not quite sure where to start, think of things like the fridge, freezer, air fryer, oven, dishwasher, grill, microwave, washer, and dryer. Just make sure you have the proper cleaning products and ingredients on hand.

Throw Out Old and Expired Food, Drinks, and Beauty Products

You’ll be amazed at what you find when going through your pantries. Things get lost and hidden over time, so don’t be shocked if you find things that expired months (or even years) ago. Pay attention to areas like the fridge, freezer, and pantry. Additionally, look at all of your beauty products and medicines, because those have expiration dates, too!

Pro Tip:  After you have wiped down your fridge, use organizers like these guys to keep things tidy and easily accessible!

Clean Out Toilets, Sinks, Showers, Baths, and Drains

When it comes to spring cleaning, it’s inevitable that more intimate areas need to be taken care of. From toilets to sinks, showers, baths, and even drains, they should all be thoroughly cleansed.

Pro Tip: Swap out your hand towels for an instant room refresh! Add our Dylan Hand Towel to any kitchen or bathroom to give that luxurious touch.

Spot Clean Rugs and Clean Under Couches, Beds, Tables, etc.

When it comes to area rugs, most of them aren’t washable (unless it’s a Ruggable, of course). If you see any stains, spot clean them to the best of your ability or hire a professional. Also remember to clean areas like under the couch, beds, and tables.

Clean and Dust Walls, Windows, Air Vents, Fans, and Other Hard to Reach Spots

When it comes to spring cleaning, it’s not the everyday type of cleaning you’re probably used to. Instead, it’s looking at places that don’t get lots of attention. From walls to windows, air vents, fans, and more, look to the areas that are hard to reach.

Organize Your Closet and Get Rid of Unwanted Items

Last but not least is probably the most dreaded for all of us… spring cleaning our closets. Go through each and every item of clothing you have… yes, even socks and underwear!! Look at the items you haven’t worn in 6 months to a year, pieces that are out of style, clothes with holes and tears, and ones that simply don’t bring you joy anymore. Organize and fold the items you’re keeping, and be sure to keep a separate pile of items to get rid of and donate.

Pro Tip: Pack away seasonal clothes to make room for the current season’s trends. Looking to upgrade your bedroom storage space? Our Blair Nightstand is just what you’ve been searching for.
