Newport Nordic Kitchen and Pantry Reveal—Home Tour!

In case you missed it —the big reveal for our latest “Newport Nordic” home reno went flawlessly! So, what exactly is Newport Nordic? It’s a mixture of coastal elements with a modern design and a Nordic feel. This house was an absolute dream and was actually the childhood home of the client—how cool is that?

We felt it was super important to keep the home’s original nostalgia. We incorporated some new ideas, designs, and even small changes in the layout. However, we did not touch the clients’ favorite piece of her childhood—the place her family gathered together—the fireplace.

This was such a fun project in its entirety but there is one particular spot that quickly captured our hearts. Our client wanted a space solely dedicated to preparing decadent foods and storing her familys’ favorite snacks. You guessed it — we went all out on the pantry and kitchen! This specific area of the home ended up exceeding the client’s expectations and we’re so excited to introduce the one-of-a-kind pantry to all of you!

The Kitchen

Designing this kitchen was fun and a challenge. We opted for minimalist, bright, and organic textures.

First things first, the original ceilings were dark red, and in order to bring a nordic feel to the room, we decided to have them faux painted to look like wood. They carry from the kitchen all the way to the living room; allowing for a super open look that is the definition of Newport Nordic.

Next up are the cabinets. The cabinetry is made from European white oak and ties the whole room together. To give it a more chic and modern vibe, we paired it with black hardware finishes!

Then there is my favorite part of the kitchen; the island. The island is oversized and is designed in a waterfall style. Made with a white porcelain slab, we decided to keep the island minimalist in style. We added some greenery and natural wood cutting boards to emphasize the clean design. The barstools are custom made with a leather back detail and tie perfectly with the vibe of the kitchen.

As for the lighting, we implemented two smaller pendants above the island and sconces by the windows. Since there are more than enough lighting options within this space, we thought that keeping it more minimal in style would allow for the kitchen to shine all on its own.

Next up is where all the magic happens… the stovetop! We had a custom built-in metal hutch made and accompanied it with a modern plastered hood. I love the way it all turned out.

The Pantry

Most people don’t have an entire room dedicated to pantry storage so anytime I get to design one, I go all out. The doors leading to the pantry are made from steel and glass. Upon opening the doors you’re immediately led to one stunning pantry space.

Then there’s the storage. We included an extra fridge for food or drink storage, a separate wine fridge—I mean, there’s always room for more wine—and we even decided to place the dishwasher in the pantry. I tend to think of dishwashers as eyesores, so keeping it out of the kitchen was a total no-brainer.

Onto the island… the polished, staggered zellige island features a half waterfall made from the same porcelain as the main kitchen island and is where our clients are probably going to do most of their prepping. With a sink for washing fruits and veggies along with a mesh upper drawer for produce storage, there’s plenty of room for food storage!

And finally, the star of the show has to be the shelf brackets and ladder…it reminds me of an old school library! The ladder is made from steel and gives the pantry the modern touch I was after. The idea of placing glass jars and other fun details on the shelves looks incredible. Can you say Newport Nordic?
