Lindye’s Favorite Neutral Paint Colors

As an interior designer, people come to me for all sorts of home advice. But one question I get asked the most often is, “What are the best neutral paint colors?” Since you asked, I will answer!

First things first, I tell all of my clients that you simply can’t go wrong with Dunn Edwards. With so many stunning shades available, there’s plenty to choose from. Whether you’re looking for beige, off-white, gray, ivory, or something in between, I have the perfect suggestion for you.

I just recently designed a house and it’s full of beautiful neutral paint colors. Interested in finding out what they are? Below, you’ll find a list of my favorite neutral paint colors.

Dunn Edwards—Exclusive Ivory (DE6191)

Exclusive Ivory is a gorgeous off-white hue that could work in any number of rooms. For this home, we decided to include it on the millwork, and I must say, the end result looks fantastic! We went with a velvet sheen which looks great with the cabinets handles and accessories. If you’re wanting a neutral shade that’s not too white and not too beige, I’d say this is your best bet.

Dunn Edwards—Cool December (DEW383)

Cool December is a stunning shade of white that looks good pretty much anywhere. In this home, we put it on the living room wall! The sheen we went with was velvet, and I absolutely love how it turned out. Out of all the neutral paint colors on this list, this is the one I turn back to time and time again.

Dunn Edwards—Fine Grain (DE6213)

Fine Grain is relatively similar to Exclusive Ivory with more of a neutral hint. We decided to use this color on the cabinets in the kitchen and opted for a semi-gloss sheen. I think it pairs perfectly with the matte black hardware! I’m loving Fine Grain for when you’re looking for a nudey, neutral hue.

Dunn Edwards—Pigeon Gray (DE6214)

If you’re looking for a nudey grey that looks great in natural light, I couldn’t recommend Pigeon Gray more! Using a semi-gloss sheen on the vanity, the end result looks amazing with the gold hardware and vintage-looking tiles. When it comes to neutral paint colors, this is an option you truly can’t go wrong with.

Dunn Edwards—Whisper (DEW340)

If white and ivory aren’t what you’re looking for, I suggest turning to Whisper. It’s a gorgeous creamy shade that looks great in homes. The velvet sheen was a must for the bedroom wall and I’m loving how simple and refined it looks. By sticking with neutral colors on the walls, you have more freedom to play around with decor, furniture, and more!

Dunn Edwards—Reclaimed Wood (DET625)

If you’re on the hunt for a grey paint color, Reclaimed Wood is a great choice. This hue is a beautiful grey, neutral color that would look great in your home. For this house we used it in the primary bedroom with a semi-gloss sheen, and paired with the wooden furniture and white headboard, I’d say it was the perfect choice.

Dunn Edwards—Harbor Mist Gray (DET515)

The bathroom is my absolute favorite room in this house, and that’s partly because of the vanity we painted in Harbor Mist Gray! Using a semi-gloss sheen, the end result is a mossy grey hue that looks lovely. It’s a pop of color without being too in your face and is still neutral, aka, it’s perfect! I love using this as an accent in a room like a vanity, cabinet, or a single wall.
