Having a well-decorated kitchen is extremely important as the kitchen is the heart of the home. Meaning it’s where people gather and spend the majority of their time, whether it’s guests or your family. Its form and function are key components in ensuring that your kitchen is a place of importance and security for everyone, ensuring that there are practical aspects and design aspects to utilizing your space best.

Add Cutting Boards and Cooking Books Into The Background
Adding cookbooks and cutting boards into the background is a great way to decorate your kitchen counter. They add texture, functionality, and warmth to your space. Some great items to use to achieve this are Pine boards, charcuterie boards, or breadboards. I enjoy layering them and making sure that their colors balance each other. Whether that’s marble, wood, or something vintage and antique with the natural patina, there are excellent ways to layer those into your backsplash or on your counter to make it a centerpiece.
Add Canisters
Canisters are perfect for storing almost anything as they are available in many sizes and varying heights. Whether it’s tea, coffee, cookies, pasta, packets of anything, extra soap, or whatever you need. If you get a set of canisters, they can be a straightforward way to add some height and get some of your levels going.
Use Display Trays
Display Trays are crucial to grouping items together. I think that using a tray under things like a vase, cookbooks, sugar jar, coffee grinds jar, and utensils keep your counter organized and stylish. Use trays to group items together like salt & pepper, soaps, oil/vinegar, etc.

Add A Bowl Of Produce
My pro tip is to add a bowl of produce to your countertop. I would say it could make or break any style of kitchen. It adds a fresh component, as well as an organic feeling. It’s useful because you can store anything from figs, apples, oranges, or even vegetables for dinner. On top of it is a great way to add a pop of color to your kitchen but a great way to store snacks with easy access.
Add potted plants
Adding a potted plant or fresh flowers is one of the easiest ways to breathe life into any kitchen counter. It also adds color that feels natural and subtle, and I love growing herbs such as rosemary, basil, or mint that I can use in my cooking, so it serves both a practical and design purpose.

Don’t forget to add a pop of color
Adding a pop of color can be a fun way to bring a little fun to your counter decor, and wine bottles are a great way to achieve this If you have a bar cart or different liquor bottles. You can also use some fun cookbooks or some cool antique paintings or adventurous paintings. Art is also a great way to bring in a little color and texture.
Add stylish dish towels
Dish towels are one of my favorite ways to incorporate decor into your kitchen that also serves a function. I think that our selection of dish towels might be my newest obsession. They can be thoughtful, artful, and have great organic texture to them. I believe that the kitchen towel or the dish towel is entirely elevated, and I think that’s okay because you use that every day. And as long as it’s excellent quality and easily washable, I would say, go for it and invest in those pieces.

Cabinets & Shelves Tips
I am a huge advocate of organization, and having ceramics & glassware in a visible cabinet or shelf adds to the decor of the room and can pull together the counter decor to the room. Using different ceramics, glassware, bowls, cups, mixing elements, and giving depth to that. Layering, lots of layering is a truly great way to bring interest.
Additional Kitchen Style Tips
When designing your space, I would look for items that can add contrast. So, please don’t use all white and glass everywhere, mix it up with some black hues or wood, and a pop of color couldn’t hurt. I would love to see layered bowls or layered artwork mixed into your decor, either on your backsplash, your walls, or even your shelves.
Other than that, I feel like the kitchen should be where you huddle and gather, cook, and enjoy time with your family, or if you’re entertaining/ hosting, and that should mean that you have the best of both worlds when it comes to form and function
