I know you are used to seeing my face around here, but I thought I would highlight my partner and hubby, Winn, today! Seems fitting as it’s Father’s Day, right?!
We’ve got a Q+A to get to but before you scroll on, I figured I’d tell you a bit more about our journey! We met in college and have been married for 14 years and have 2 amazing (and crazy) kiddos. Seven years ago I launched the design studio and two years ago Winn jumped on board too. He launched our furniture and decor shop in 2020 (whatta year, am I right?!) and we’ve been working together ever since. I focus on all the creative for our studio and shop and he runs the behind the scenes of the business. So, without further ado, let’s hear from the man behind the scenes and bring him center stage for a minute!
L: Tell us about yourself!
W: I love to golf, surf, and do just about anything active!
L: Can you tell everyone one random fact about yourself that most people don’t know?
W: Before joining LG Studio + Shop, I worked for 13 years in Real Estate Development, so I definitely have a knack for the business.
L: Can you tell everyone how we met?
W: It was about the closest thing to love at first sight you can get (and yes, I know that’s cheesy). I remember seeing Lindye on her first day of college (in a non-creepy way) and was determined to get to know her! Years later, I’m the absolute luckiest guy ever.
L: What is your role in the company?
W: I oversee business operations at the Studio + Shop. From working with new clients on the Studio side to new business initiatives for the shop, I stay pretty busy!
L: Why did you come on board as CEO and what excites you about what you do?
W: I love solving big problems, driving the team forward, and connecting with industry partners. My role here allows me to do all these things, and I love coming to work! I honestly can’t think of a better career.
L: What does a typical day on the job look like for you?
W: I wear a lot of hats around here, so no day is the same. You can usually find me speaking with potential clients, meeting with our team brainstorming growth opportunities, or chatting with builders and architects in the industry.
L: How would you describe your own personal interior design style? Does it coincide with mine?
W: Anything Lindye designs is my jam!
L: What trends are you seeing in your realm of the interior design business?
W: Studio clients are constantly inspiring me to improve our process and customer experience. With the shop, I believe the future of our business will rely on unique designs produced by our team (keep your eyes out for more coming soon!).
L: If you could go back in time, what would you tell your younger self?
W: Ask more questions!
L: What are your favorite pieces in the Shop and why?
W: My favorites are our rug collection, Bixby Hutch, Cape Lounge Chair, and the Larkspur Vases (ironically, all of our best sellers!).
L: How do you balance being the CEO of a fast-growing company, a devoted father, and a husband?
W: I’m not always good at it, to be honest. But I’ve found I must wake up early to enter the day slow and rarely talk about work at home (which is easier said than done).
L: What is it like working alongside me?
W: I greatly respect and admire Lindye’s grit and determination to build what we have. She’s constantly pushing and inspiring me to see the vision for what’s next in our business. I couldn’t have asked for a better partner in life and business!
